Blandy's 5 Years Reserva Madeira
Regular price €11,90This wine was first born as the Alvada before developing into Blandy’s 5 year old Reserva in 2018. At the time, it was unique within The Madeira wine trade as the first blended wine using two of the island’s tradicional white varietals – 50% Malmsey and 50% Bual.
The result was a wine that incorporated the luscious, silky, honey suckle Malmsey with the tropical fruit and spiciness of Bual.
Tasting Notes:
Lovely golden-chestnut colour with a fine golden rim. Characteristic and classic Madeira bouquet of dried fruits, toffee and hints of oak and spices. Sweet, very rich, smooth and full-bodied, balanced by a very fine acidity. A long aftertaste with notes of honey and spicy oak.

Blandy's Bual 10 Years Old Madeira
Regular price €24,20The Blandy’s are unique in being the only family of all the original founders of the Madeira wine trade to still own and manage their own original wine company, maintaining a tradition that goes back to 1811.
The family works with 29 Boal (or Bual) farmers predominately from the south coast of the island between Ribeira Brava and Calheta. Relatively easy to grown and quite vigorous, the berry benefits from the long hours of sunlight found in this region of the island. Also known in Portugal as “Malvasia Fina”, this varietal is picked relatively early on during harvest and produces a medium rich style of wine.
Blandy's 10 year old Bual is fined and does not require decanting. It has been bottled ready for drinking and will keep for several months after opening.
Tasting Notes:
“Packed with aromas of raisins, butterscotch and vanilla. Mouth-filling concentrated flavours of maple syrup, figs, caramel and sugared walnuts. Sweet but with a streak of acid verve. Beautifully balanced with an endless finish and lovely complexity” (IWSC)
The non-vintage 10-Year-Old Bual has an elegant bouquet with notes of Seville orange marmalade, quince, beeswax, dried orange peel and cardamom. The palate is very well-balanced with subtle marmalade and spice notes on the entry. (erobertparker)

Blandy's Malmsey 10 Years Old Madeira
Regular price €24,20The Blandy’s are unique in being the only family of all the original founders of the Madeira wine trade to still own and manage their own original wine company, maintaining a tradition that goes back to 1811.
The Malmsey or Malvasia grape is found predominately in the region of São Jorge on the north of the island where the family has long standing relationships with over 26 farmers. Possibly the most well-known of the noble varieties, the grape has high levels of both sugar and acidity – a perfect combination for this rich style of Madeira.
Blandy's 10 year old Malmsey is fined and does not require decanting. It has been bottled ready for drinking and will keep for several months after opening.
Tasting Notes:
“The non-vintage 10-Year-Old Malmsey has an introspective, marmalade, fig and burnt sugar-scented bouquet that gently unfurls in the glass. The palate is very well-balanced, with a viscous entry that lacquers the mouth. The acidity is very well-judged, lending the finish a sense of poise and tension that neatly counterbalances the richness and precocity. This is very well-made.” (erobertparker)

Blandy's Sercial 10 Years Old Madeira
Regular price €24,20The Blandy’s are unique in being the only family of all the original founders of the Madeira wine trade to still own and manage their own original wine company, maintaining a tradition that goes back to 1811.
Sercial probably originates from Bucelas near Lisboa, where it was traditionally grown under the name Esgana Cao, which literally means dog strangler, hinting at the fierce acidity of the wines. The family work with 30 Sercial farmers who account for the majority of the fruit grown on the island. Found either at 600 metres above sea level on the south of the island at Jardim da Serra, or at sea level on the north at Sexial and Porto Moniz.
Blandy's 10 year old Sercial is fined and does not require decanting. It has been bottled ready for drinking and will keep for several months after opening.
Tasting Notes:
“Dry, bitter almonds. Lovely balancing acidity and hazelnuts on the finish, which is long and satisfying.” (IWSC)

Blandy's Verdelho 10 Years Old Madeira
Regular price €24,20The Blandy’s are unique in being the only family of all the original founders of the Madeira wine trade to still own and manage their own original wine company, maintaining a tradition that goes back to 1811.
Verdelho is said to have been widely cultivated on Madeira in the 17th Century and some say it may have actually originated from the island. The family works with 26 famers found in 5 main regions of the island. In the north in Porto Moniz, Santana and São Vincente and in the south in Calheta and Funchal. Verdelho produces a must with moderate sugar levels, marked acidity and produces a medium-dry style of Madeira wine.
Blandy's 10 year old Verdelho is fined and does not require decanting. It has been bottled ready for drinking and will keep for several months after opening.
Tasting Notes:
“The non-vintage 10-Year-Old Verdelho has a delightful, resinous bouquet with touches of mahogany bureau and hazelnut. The palate is crisp and taut on the entry, with vibrant acidity, and demonstrates more depth and chutzpah than its counterpart Sercial. The finish is focused with a subtle smoky note lingering after the wine has departed.” (erobertparker).
